The Scheme was (re)launched on 15th April 2024 by Government Notice 484

In the new scheme regulated by REWS the documentation often refers to Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems however please be assured that the scheme also is available for Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration devices such as EcoPro and EcoPro Compact.

However, please note the following as it relates to TAPP Water Filters:

• the scheme is now restricted to household owners as any leasehold agreement must have at least 5 years to run.
• The Electricity Bill must be in the same name as the applicant and the TAPP Water Invoice
• The Fiscal receipt must be in the same name as the Invoice from TAPP Water, use the Fiscal Receipt Number on the application
• When completing the form use the Fiscal receipt Number rather than the Invoice Number in the form
• Rating Plates and Serial Numbers are NOT required for Water Guard Option 1 Grant Applications (Confirmed by REWS)
• If you file an online application then the original declaration form and fiscal receipt still has to be provided in hard copy to REWS
• On purchase, at your request, we provide a complimentary Grant Pack with everything you need that we can supply including these instructions, the application form, invoice and fiscal receipt.

TAPP EcoPro, EcoPro Compact & Ultrafiltration are all eligible for : 

Grant A: Be Water Smart: Water Guard

The application is done online and an eID is required for this and it takes up to 5 weeks for your application to be considered by REWS.

If your application is refused you may appeal the decision. If you do not receive a reply this can be considered as a refusal and you may appeal.

If you purchased from a TAPP Water Retail Partner - they will provide a Fiscal Receipt that includes their VAT Number and a description of the product. These receipts will be acceptable for both online and in-person applications.

If your purchased on the online store at www.tappwater.mt you will need a PDF copy of your invoice which will have been sent to you when you ordered and a Fiscal Receipt written by hand from the VAT Office receipt book which we can supply on request.

Conditions to apply:

• be a resident of Malta with ID card or resident permit
• install in a residential home not used for a business activity
• be the owner or the property OR be the holder of a lease of at least 5 years left to run at the time of purchase.
• not have obtained grants for this system or the same technology before
• not be a business or landlord
• have a personal bank account
• have the equipment available for inspection if so required
• accept that your data maybe published
• application must be within 6 months of fiscal receipt or termination of the grant
• payment of the grant means the receiver is subject to REWS audits
• a 2 year guarantee must be supplied on the equipment (EcoPro and EcoPro Compact is covered by a 2 year guarantee)
• payment made by the applicant (not a business) solely or together with other members of the household, the Fiscal Receipt is proof of payment
• the equipment must not be modified or degraded for 5 years following installation and is subject to inspection during this period
• keep all documentation for the grant and equipment for 5 years after payment of the grant
• electricity bill in the same name as the grant applicant AND the invoice and fiscal receipt

Documents Required:

• Copy of the ID Card
• Copy Electricity Bill within last 12 months for the premises. This must be in the same name as the invoice/fiscal receipt and grant applicant
• Photo of installed system
• Photo of system’s rating plates showing model and serial numbers- This does not apply in the case of EcoPro and EcoPro Compact and an application for Grant 1-Water Guard
• Fiscal Receipt (please just ask if you need this from us)
• Invoice (You get this by email)
• Copy of lease agreement (if applicable)
