At Tappwater we stock 30+ adapters and you can easily find the right one for you following the guide here.
You can also send by WhatsApp a picture or a video of the difficulty you are having and we can help. +356 99866142
For assistance with fitting you may contact our trusted partner Ivan on 79470543 who provides this service at a charge between 15 and 25 euros depending on the work required and any adapters needed.
All arrangements you make with Ivan are outside of the responsibility of TAPP Water (Malta) Ltd and you will need to contact Ivan directly.
Ff your Tappwater fitting has a leak from the kitchen mixer after fitting the most likely cause is a missing washer in between the adapter and the kitchen mixer.
The washer is not always needed, but if your fitting has a leak then adding the washer in most cases will resolve this.
Sometimes you may need some PTFE tape around the adapter threads on the mixer side.
Sometimes 1 washer is not enough, you can try 2, sometimes 2 is too thick so 1 slightly thicker washer works better. Most of the time 1 washer that we supply with the adapter is absolutely ok, just on occasions with some mixers there is some additional messing around but you can always ask us for more washers or find for a few cents at the ironmongery.
It is customary to use a pump to increase pressure on water in the household and this can affect the way your water filter works.
Pumps are activated by a pressure switch, so on some occasions the filtered side does not create enough pressure to activate the pump and so the pressure coming into the filter is low. Thus the filtered water is also low pressure.
So if your filtered water is slow, you can test out if you pump is affecting the filter flow by the following procedure.
If this works for you then you have the answer.
Just open your tap on unfiltered first and when the pump kicks in switch to filtered.
Just for fun you can check the opposite happens when you open with just filtered water and the flow is slow, but then you open the unfiltered side with Tappwater filter and the flow is magically ok, then switch back to filtered and hey presto you have strong filtered water!
Over the years we have fitted to may different types of kitchen mixers and we have collected these in this page dedicated to the more complex fittings.
On the Tappwater EcoPro, the numbers are on a dial that can be set to remind you when to change your filters.
Set the dial for 3 months time when installing a new filter, each dot represents a week, each number refers to a month so 1 is January, 2 is February etc...
The Tappwater EcoPro filter cartridge refill is easy to change and it only takes a minute.
Its important to keep the silicone seal that is in the nozzle end of the casing. This is required for the filter to work correctly. When you remove the refill from the casing it is wise to check if the silicone seal has stuck to the refill cartridge, if so remove and return it to the casing at the nozzle end.
First, make sure you are holding the filter casing correctly. Please hold the base, where the water comes out, in the palm of your hand.
Second unscrew the casing whilst holding the base (where the water comes out) and turning the casing anticlockwise.
Remove the old filter, replace with a new one.
Checkout the YouTube Video here:
The EcoPro Compact filter refill cartridge is easy to change and it only takes a minute.
Hold the top of the EcoPro Compact and unscrew the nozzle where the filtered water comes out and unscrew clockwise. Remove the filter refill and replace with a new one.
If you find any difficulty to turn the opening, then remove the EcoPro Compact filter housing by tilting it away from you and the unit will twist off the bridge component which attaches to the mixer.
Then you can hold the EcoPro Compact upside down in a towel to provide grip and turn the nozzle piece anti-clockwise to unscrew.
Make sure to change refills at the end of 2 months to ensure efficient filtration.
If you have had difficulty opening the EcoPro Compact housing here are some handy tips to make it really easy for you to open the Tappwater EcoPro Compact water filter in Malta.
The trick really is about using your thumb positioned against the housing join so that your pushing against your thumb. It makes it easier to open.
Did you recently change your EcoPro filter refill and now the water taste has changed?
Most likely the seal from inside your filter casing has become dislodged.
You can check if the seal is present and we can supply a replacement if you need.
You can dispose of the Tappwater EcoPro and Compact refills without the casings in the Mixed Waste black bag waste collection as they are composed of mixed waste and mostly organic components which will break down quickly in landfill.
For the Tappwater EcoPro the refill cartridge casing are reused, when they come to the end of their life they can be put in the mixed recyclables (grey) bags.
There are no casings used with the Tappwater EcoPro Compact or EcoPro Chrome SMT which saves even more plastic.
The design of the Tappwater EcoPro, EcoPro Chrome SMR and EcoPro Compact refill cartridges reduces plastic waste a few refills per year are placed in Mixed Waste instead of a far greater amount of Mixed and Recyclable waste being created through the use of plastic bottles, non recyclable filter materials or casing that are not recyclable with other filter systems such as pitchers, ceramic filters or reverse osmosis cartridges.
We may not be able to completely eliminate waste at present but we have reduced it to an absolute minimum and kept the process simple and efficient. We are always working to improve on this.
With our #TAPPZero programme you can, at your cost, return filters to us and we recycle the components so there is zero waste.
ts easy to assemble and dis-assemble your EcoPro or EcoPro Compact. You can twist the Valve (the piece with the switch on) away from the housing and then reassemble by reconnecting and twisting back into position again.
The video shows the EcoPro - but its the same for EcoPro Compact.
The Tappwater EcoPro and EcoPro Compact Water Filter is now manufactured in a new plastic compound which has proven to be a reliable upgrade to the previous compound which suffered some defects when in use.
We may ask you to check that you have the EcoPro Housing or Valve in the new compound, it is really easy to do this, just look for the moulded marks on the EcoPro Housing or Valve as shown in the picture below.
It's the same markings on both EcoPro and EcoPro Compact.
It is important that we know which product compound you have so that we can clearly track any defects and work with the manufacturer to resolve which is why we ask you to check.
Occasionally you may find that the metal collar on the valve has a gap between the metal and the white plastic where a leak can occur.
Its easy to tighten this with an allen key as shown. Clockwise to tighten.
Sometimes the lid of an EcoPro Compact may seem stuck.
This can happen if you "cross the threads" , when turning the lid it is important to align the threads correctly and you can tell if this is aligned as it will turn easily and you can tighten up with out an issue.
If you are forcing it, then you have crossed the threads so unscrew the lid and start again.
If the lid appears to be stuck, then use your thumb as a hold, on the connection point as illustrated below which gives you a fixed hold to turn anticlockwise against to open.
Discolouration both on the filter refill and in the casing is perfectly normal.
In Malta we experience rust in our pipes both in the building we live in and from the main supply.
The rust is filtered out, but will cause discolouration inside the filter and on the wrapper of the refill cartridge. Here is an example of what is normal, kindly sent in by a customer.
You can wash the casing that holds the filter in gentle soap and warm water.
Just switch between filtered and non-filtered water using the switch on your Tappwater filter.
The quality of your water and the efficiency of the filter’s filtration capacity can only be guaranteed for a usage capacity equivalent to 3 months (EcoPro & PitcherPro) or 2 months (EcoPro Compact or BottlePro)
Our quality parameters for filtering substances and contaminants are above 95% in most cases (depending on the type of contaminant it is higher, for instance, with chlorine filtration efficiency is at 99%).
The filtration of contaminants such as pesticides and herbicides, VOCs, and microplastics do not meet our quality parameters after the maximum months of usage.
If you use your cartridge beyond the stated times, filtration efficiency will decay below our minimum standards.
Keep in mind that carbon is an organically based material that provides a breeding ground for microorganisms on which bacteria can multiply over time.
These bacteria build up behind the filter and contaminate the water in the pipe system. This is normal for all activated carbon filters, regardless of whether you live alone or with many people, or if the filter hasn’t been used for some time.
A quick reminder in case you don’t use the filter for a couple of days: flush for 30 seconds before consumption to avoid bacteria intake.
Our filter cartridges are highly effective at absorbing the smallest substances, contaminants, and particles (1-2 microns) for the time limits stated in a household of up to 6 people.
CHLORINE, CHLORAMINE, LEAD, HEAVY METALS, RUST, SEDIMENT, MICROPLASTICS, NITRATE (NO3), NITRITE, TRIHALOMETHANES (THM's), HALOACETIC ACIDS (HAA's), AMMONIA, PESTICIDES/HERBICIDES, PATHOGENS/BACTERIA, , PERFLURINATED CHEMICALS (PFAS), FLUORIDE, ANTIBIOTICS/PHARMACEUTICALS, ARSENIC, LIMESCALE
Tappwater filters in Malta have been independently tested and the results are give in this article about the independent test results in Malta.
The PH of the water from Malta public water supply was tested at 8.93 BEFORE filtration and 9.3 AFTER filtration. Tappwater filters preserve the alkalinity of Malta's tap water by retaining the healthy minerals.
An alkaline tap water is both healthy and an advantage as it causes less corrosion in the pipes.
Read more about Malta's wonderful alkaline mineral water.

Tappwater filters have been independently tested in Malta and globally and you can read the full details of the independent test results in this article.
You can download the results of the independent Test results on Malta Public Supply here (In Spanish as we used an international laboratory):
For a full analysis of the advantages Tappwater faucet filters has over reverse osmosis systems you can read our comprehensive article:
https://tappwater.mt/pages/tapp-water-v-reverse-osmosis-in-malta
But here is a quick summary of the advantages Tappwater has over RO:
Considering the microplastics and chemicals associated with plastic bottled water and glass bottled water Tappwater is a far healthier option for baby formula. Tap water in Malta and Tappwater filters undergo far more rigorous testing than plastic bottled water.
The founders of Tappwater in Spain both have used Tappwater filters with their babies and young children and in Malta many of the thousands of families using Tappwater also have babies.
Furthermore in Malta we offer this article by Maria Vella from Ikkuluriti the Eco Friendly Family store where Maria describes using Tappwater filters with babies and young children in Malta.
Some mothers are concerned about Sodium in the tap water in Malta. Our independent tested results are of around 20mg/Litre which is a level of sodium well within safety guidelines and so when used with baby formula Tappwater filters are a great option for mothers and babies.
That would be ideal. To do a real taste test you need the water filter in your home and for a few days.
We offer a 45 day money back guarantee so you can order your filter, fit it easily at home with your supply and pipes and if anything is not right for you just return the unit for your refund. We are confident you will not need to do that! In fact 95% of customers keep their Tappwater filter.
You can go to a retail store and try the water please check with the outlet first- please see our TAPP Water retail partners in Malta.
Your ShowerPro Diamond can be fitted to either the mixer or the showerhead.
Unscrew the shower hose from the the shower mixer or shower head, then screw on the ShowerPro Diamond in place of the hose and reattach the hose to the other end of the ShowerPro Diamond
ShowerPro Diamond refills should be changed at least every 6 months. It's easy to do, just hold the ShowerPo Diamond and twist the larger piece of the casing to release the filter refill inside. Just remove the used filter and replace with a new one and then replace the casing.
Please see the video below that shows you how to change the filter in the ShowerPro Diamond
Refills should be changed every 6 months
The filtration technology inside the TAPP ShowerPro Diamond is the only filtration technology for showers that has been independently tested.
ShowerPro Diamond (previously TAPP 1s) has been tested and certified to remove more than 70 contaminants from tap water.
The products have been tested for compliance in accordance with the following NSF
standards: NSF/ANSI 177 Shower Filtration Systems - Aesthetic Effects
You can download our certification document here.
You can see more details here: http://www.kdfft.com/products.htm
The ShowerPro Diamond is tested independently to filter 70+ contaminants from tap water to give you a refreshing shower and filtering contaminants that are damaging to hair and skin. Here is the full list.
The unpleasant taste or smell of water is generally caused by Chlorine, its by-products and organic contaminants. 95% or more is removed.
Chlorine is added to disinfect tap water from harmful viruses and bacteria. Measured in free chlorine after filtering. 95% or more is removed.
Testing includes Total Trihalomethanes and Total Trichloroethylene. Clorine by-products include over 100 substances incl 32 known chlorine by-products (VOCs) such as THMs identified as potentially cancerous. 95% or more is removed.
Occur naturally in trace amounts in water, from industrial waste or from pipe corrosion. Testing includes lead, zinc, manganese, barium and other heavy metals. 80% or more is removed.
Testing based on total pesticides. A total of 14 listed pesticides including Chlordane, Heptachlor, and Lindane are removed by 95% or more
Testing based on total herbicides. A total of 12 listed herbicides including 2,4-D and Atrazine are removed by 95% or more
Reducing limescale from forming in showerheads and cubicle areas after filtration 80% or more is inhibited.
Turbidity is a measure of the degree to which the water loses its transparency due to the presence of suspended particulates. 90% or more is removed.
The filtration is an effective water treatment to reduce or remove water pathogens such as Legionella pneumophila. However, TAPP 1s is not certified for bacteria removal. 90% or more is removed.
Testing of dry-weight of suspended particles that are not dissolved after filtration. 90% or more is removed.
The filtration technology in the TAPP Shower Pro is called KDF-55 and this technology is the only filtration technology that has been independently tested to prove that both Limescale and Chlorine are significantly reduced leading to healthier hair and skin.
KDF-55 is one part of the filtration process, there are another 3 stages of water purification for your shower.
The Tappwater Ultra just takes a minute to install.
You first remove the aerator in your tap, replace with an adapter (supplied) if required and attach the Tappwater Ultra in place of the aerator.
When you remove the aerator from your tap, most likely there is a small washer above it, please use this washer above the adapter supplied with your Tappwater.
No tools are required for most taps and it only takes a minute to fit.
Run the water through the filter for 30 seconds after installation and then you are good to go.
Yes.
Please find a link to the independent test results from November 2020 below.
TAPP 1UF is the old name for Tappwater Ultra which is independently certified to remove over 100 contaminants including 99.9% reduction for bacteria such as Clostridium, eColi, Enterococcus, and Microbial cysts.
In Malta the Tappwater Ultra is for use with water from wells, tanks and bowsers.
Due to the EcoPro being more effective at removing limescale, the Ultra is not recommended for use with normal public supply drinking water in Malta.
It's easy to change the filter on your TAPP Ultrafiltration.
Just unscrew the filter casing and replace with a new filter.
This product is for use only with a water supply from a well, tank or bowser in Malta.
This is because its designed to be 99.99% effective at filtering bacteria - great for the use case of a well/tank or bowser and it's used widely in Asia and countries with similar water supplies.
But when used for Malta public supply direct to your kitchen mixer, it is far less effective than the other faucet filters such as EcoPro, EcoPro Chrome SMR and EcoPro Compact because of a less effective chlorine and limescale filtration.
For use with wells, tanks and bowsers the Tappwater Ultra is good because chlorine is less of an issue as it is either not present (wells/bowsers) or it dissipates prior to use (tanks). Limescale is less in wells and bowsers and if you are using from a tank then you will need to accept some limescale deposits will form.
Here is our quick guide to using the PitcherPro water filter jug in Malta.
The PitcherPro is simple to set up, just rinse the existing filter inside your jug and also make sure the straw is in the correct place located in the lid.
Fill your PitcherPro and then pour out 1 glass to throw away, and then you can use it normally.
Change your filter every 3 months and during this time up to 600 Litres can be dispensed.
Wash your glass jug and lid regularly using mild detergent and warm water. Make sure its rinsed and dried before using again.
PitcherPro refills must be changed after 3 months.
During this time they will deliver up to 600 Litres of filtered water so depending on usage you may have to change your filters before 3 months
It's important to change your refills regularly to avoid bacteria build up.
Yes the PitcherPro glass water jug can be put in your dishwasher.
Before using the BottlePro remove the filter inside and rinse under cold water for 30 to 60 seconds.
We suggest you do not leave water standing in the BottlePro without use for more than 3 days.
If you do not use your BottlePro for 3 days or more, then remove the filter and rinse under cold water for 30 to 60 seconds to flush any bacteria that may have buil up through non-use.
It is important to change your filter refills after 2 months of use or 150 Litres whichever is first.
Change the filter every 2 months or 150L on BottlePro in order to avoid bacteria building up inside the filter.
It's easy to change by removing lid from an empty BottlePro, twist off the straw containing the refill, open it up and remove the used refill and replace it with a new one that has been rinsed under cold water for 30 seconds, close up the straw and twist back into the lid.
Remember to clean you BottlePro, lid and straw regularly with mild detergent and warm water and rinse and dry before using again.
Yes you can, and these will not be filtered out.
Activated carbon and the other stages used in BottlePro are generally not effective at removing dissolved ions, including the electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which are found in water. This is a good thing as any healthy minerals in the tap water source will be maintained, in addition to any added.
The primary reason for this is that activated carbon functions primarily through adsorption, a process where certain compounds stick to the activated carbon. While this works well for many organic molecules, dissolved ions like electrolytes don't interact strongly with the carbon, and therefore pass through the filter largely unaffected..

In the event that payment is not made as agreed we shall ask for payment and remind the creditor that payment is due.
When requesting payment that is late we will set a deadline for payment and communicate this to the creditor.
If payment is not made by the deadline we shall proceed with a Small Claims Tribunal procedure for the sum outstanding. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for you to receive the court documents at home.
The Small Claims Procedure is an online tribunal that does not require an attended hearing but in the case of a judgement against the non payment of sums owed there will be a public record of the case, and payment can be enforced by the court after judgement.
Once a Small Claims Tribunal Case has been started it cannot be stopped or cancelled by ourselves.

If you have paid once receiving the court documents and do not file a reply, then the court hearing will proceed and judgement may be made against you.
If you do file a reply, we will be able to counter claim your reply should your payment remain, in our view, unsatisfactory. Or we may choose to not file a counter claim in which case the court may decide that the case is satisfied.
