Microfiltration technology

PitcherPro uses 4-stage microfiltration technology with activated carbon and alkaline beads.

The activated carbon block, made from coconut shell, is capable of absorbing chemical, gaseous, metallic and organic elements thanks to its microscopic structure and highly porous surface.

As the water passes through the filter, substances such as: lime, chlorine (responsible for bad taste), heavy metals, sand, rust and sediments, lead, mercury, salmonella, legionella, pesticides, herbicides, drug residues, nitrates and 80 contaminants larger than 1-2 μm (microns) are retained in the spherical particles of the activated carbon. The result is clean, filtered water, ready for consumption.

Activated carbon is an organic material that can become a breeding ground for micro-organisms over time once it has been wet. Changing the filter every 3 months ensures that you avoid any bacterial proliferation within the jug and guarantees that the filtration efficiency meets our strict quality parameters.

Yes, to get the best results, you should rinse the new filter under a cold running tap for about 60 seconds before inserting it into the jug. This flushes out any loose carbon particles (which are harmless but can affect initial appearance) and "activates" the media for immediate use.

Used refills should be disposed of in the general waste (black bag). While the filter core is 70% sustainable coconut shell, the remaining 30% consists of UHMW and silicone parts that are not currently processed in standard recycling streams. Despite this, one filter still prevents the waste of hundreds of single-use plastic bottles.

The original PitcherPro refills are compatible with the original PitcherPro glass jug. While they provide excellent filtration, they do not contain the Swedish Mineral Rock™ found in the SMR versions. If you have the original jug, these refills are the correct high-performance choice for your system.
