Tap Water Voucher Scheme in Malta 2025

On 1st July the Government Of Malta sent 13,000 Vouchers to Vulnerable Households in Malta and these vouchers with a face value of €100 can be exchanged for Activated Carbon Water Filters at participating retailers.

Each Tap Water Voucher bears a unique QR Code, and the voucher needs to be validated by the retailer for the purchase of the activated carbon water filter.

The TW Tap Water Scheme was announced by the Government in June 2025 A Grant on the Purchase of Activated Carbon Filters – Call 2025/TW Tap Water Scheme – Support for Vulnerable Households

This new scheme is all part of the governments drive to reduce plastic bottles used for drinking water in conjunction with the Water Services Corporation Initiative to encourage people to drink more tap water following substantial investment and improvements in consistency. At www.waw.com.mt water Services specifically highlight the advantages of Activated Carbon Filters like Tappwater.

The retailer will be paid by Malta Government for the amount of 100 euros and will issue a vat receipt to the voucher holder, they will validate the voucher to the ID card of the voucher holder and will need to take a copy of the receipt in the validation process.

The EcoPro Compact is great for 1 or 2 persons in a household providing clean tasty drinking water with each filter lasting 2 months, so 6 filters a year each delivering up to 300L

Common Questions

What if the voucher holder cannot leave the house?

The voucher holder can give their ID and Voucher to a family member who can exchange on their behalf, this person will need their own ID available

What do I need to bring with me to the retail store to exchange my voucher?

You will need the voucher, the ID of the voucher holder and your ID if you are not the voucher holder.

I already have a Tappwater filter, can I exchange the voucher for filter refills?

Yes you can

Will Tappwater fit my mixer?

Most mixers have an aerator in the end of the mixer which is round and can have threads inside and outside the aerator, we have adapters for both. the standard adapter supplied in the annual starter packs of both products available under the Tap Water Voucher Scheme fits 80% of mixers with a standard M24 aerator.

Do I have to pay anything?

When exchanging the voucher for an annual starter pack of either EcoPro or EcoPro Compact Chrome you will not have to pay anything at the participating retailers listed.

Will I be able to find filters next year?

Tappwater has been supplying filters for 5 years in Malta and we plan to continue to do this. Tappwater is an international brand present in 50+ countries.
